Set in District Six during the 1950s, it tells the story of a teenage vocal harmony group following their dreams of fame and fortune despite the obstacles of an apartheid South Africa. David Kramer has written a musical comedy based on one of Marc Lottering's most lovable characters, Smiley. Christo Davids plays Fuad, his brother, and the audience follows their adventures as they try and escape from Big Bucks, a perlemoen smokkelaar. They need Inspector Mercia Meintjies's help to get away as they move between Grassy Park and the Waterfront, Woodstock and Wynberg. |

 The Documentary In 2001 David Kramer presented a show called Karoo Kitaar Blues that made South Africa sit up and take notice. It was a concert presenting the eccentric guitar styles of the Karoo the unique finger-picking and tunings of a marginalised people who live in remote villages and outposts of the of the semi-desert areas of South Africa. read more... |
